Kenya Safari Itinerary.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is the Starting point for many Safaris in East Africa and this Safari is no Optional.

You will visit the following places/Destinations in Kenya.

The National Parks and Reserves to visit in Kenya.

This is the East Africa Safari Itinerary Starting in Kenya with Day 1 Landing at JKIA.

Day 1:Arrival.

JKIA (Airport) – Nairobi Hotel (This is self-Booking) Check Variety of affordable hotels in Nairobi.

You will be received at the airport by your Tour Representative together with your Safari guide who happens to be your driver in Kenya.

You will be briefed on your East Africa Safari Itinerary Then Transferred to your City Hotel.

Day2: Nairobi Tour.

This is the Day to explore Nairobi, you will start with Nairobi National Park at 06:30 AM. The Recommended time is 4 to 5 hours of game drive.

Mind you this is the only National Park within the city on Earth. So, it is kind of a big deal.

You will check out with game drives and head to David Sheldrick Wildlife trust since they Open at 11: 00 Am and close at noon. It is a one-hour incredible ideal.

Break for lunch and at 2:00 PM Proceed to Giraffe Centre. Time to interact with those tall guys (Read Facts About Giraffes). Kiss and feed them. Two Hours will be more than enough.

Depending with time or interest you will proceed to Kazuri Beads or be taken back to your city hotel to get ready to the start of the most awaited East Africa Safari on Day 3.

Day3: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve.

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive through central Kenya and north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve arriving Shaba Sarova Lodge in time for lunch.

An afternoon game drive is in place. Samburu National Game Reserve is situated in the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River in Northern Kenya.

This means that there is plenty of water, trees and shade to attract wildlife like; The big five surrounding savannah plains.

The Uaso Nyiro River’s magnificent displays are the long and huge Crocodiles, which exceed six meters (20 feet) from snout to tail (Amazing sight there). Dinner and overnight at the Sarova Shaba Lodge. The Approx. Transit time: 5½ hrs.

Day4: Full Day at Samburu National Park.

This will be a Full Day Game drive. You will have a packed lunch so this is one of those incredible days you enjoy viewing the big five, Lion, Elephants, Leopard Buffalos.

Day5: Samburu – Aberdares National Park.

Depart Samburu after breakfast and drive to the lower slopes of Mt. Kenya/Aberdare Ranges arriving at the Ark Lodge in time for lunch.

Relax in the afternoon as you watch the game from the balconies of the lodge, with an optional guided nature walk. Overnight floodlit game viewing. Dinner and overnight at the tree hotel. Approx. Transit time: 3 hrs.

Day6: Aberdares National Park – Nakuru National Park.

Depart after breakfast and drive to the floor of The Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park making a brief stop at Nyahururu Thomson Falls.

Arrive at Lake Nakuru Lodge in time for lunch. Lake Nakuru is famous for the presence of up to two million Flamingos.

Seasonally feeding on the abundant algae. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx. 400 other species of birds visiting the lake.

Besides, many species of game can be found in the Park including the introduced Rothschild’s Giraffe, Black and White Rhino.

Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Baboon and many species of plains game. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Nakuru Lodge. Approx. Transit time: 3 Hours

Day7: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve.

Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast in the morning and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to one of the main destinations in the East Africa Safari Itinerary, Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Arriving at Mara Sopa Lodge or Mara Simba Lodge in time for lunch. Afternoons wonder game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge Approx. Transit time: 6 hrs.

Day8 & 9: Masai Mara National Reserve.

Time for the ward winning National Park. Masai Mara National Reserve, known for its density of animals including the Big Five and 453 Bird species.

It is one of the most visited reserves in Africa. This National Reserve’s plains are predominantly open savannah. Which is interspersed with patches of acacia woodland, and along the Mara River, riparian forest.

Whilst game viewing is excellent in the Mara all year round. The most popular time to visit is in late July into August.

Where over one million Wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Zebras migrate from the Serengeti. The dramatic river crossings are a gruesome spectacle of survival of the fittest.

This is the time to go for Masai village Visit, they have interesting activities, the dancing, the high Jumping and showing you their cultural practices.

Day10: Masai Mara National Reserve – Nairobi.

You will check out Masai Mara in style, doing game drives, then drive to Nairobi arriving approximately 1300hrs. Lunch on own account/afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Nairobi Safari Club. Optional dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant or Safari Park Hotel. Approx. Transit time: 6 hrs.

Day11: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park.

Depart Nairobi in the morning for Amboseli National Park arriving Oltukai Lodge in time for lunch.

The Park is famous for its big game and great scenic beauty whose entire landscape is dominated by Mt Kilimanjaro back Drop.

An afternoon ‘Spice’ game drive is planned after lunch. Dinner and overnight at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge Approximate Transit time: 4 hrs.

Day12: Exploring Amboseli National Park.

Early morning pre-breakfast ‘Spice’ game drive at 6.30 am when you have the best chance to see Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Return to the lodge for late breakfast. The rest of the morning is at leisure. Another visit to a Masai Village is planned for this day.

An afternoon ‘Spice’ game drive will follow then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge. This will be the last night in Kenya.

Tanzania Safaris.

It is time for Tanzania the second country after Kenya to tour in this East Africa Safari Itinerary. It cannot get any better than this. Tanzania has an immense wealth of wildlife. All the big Five, all sorts of Bird Species etc.

These are the parks and destinations you will visit.

  • Serengeti National Park
  • Ngoro Ngoro Crater
  • Arusha

Day13: Amboseli National Park – Lake Manyara National Park.

Early morning breakfast at the lodge, checkout and proceed to the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Where you will meet up with the Tanzanian guide.

You will exchange the vehicle at the border. After Clearing at the border. You will now proceed to Arusha for lunch. (Read: Things to do in Arusha and what is needed at the Border)

After lunch, continue to Lake Manyara National Park for dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge or Kirurumu Tented Camp.

Approximate Transit time: 5 hours to Arusha and an hour to Manyara.

Day14: Lake Manyara National Park – Serengeti National Park.

You will have a Morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park dotted with exotic trees such as the Giant fig, Baobab and Mahogany and the famous tree-climbing Lions.

Depart after lunch for Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Serengeti Sopa Lodge Approx. transit time: 4 hrs.

Day 15: Serengeti National Park.

At last, you are in the famous Serengeti National Park. By now you will only be felt with awe. Just like Masai Mara National Reserve, Serengeti never disappoints.

You will have a full day in Serengeti on morning and afternoon incredible game drives in the rolling grasslands studded with wildlife for as far as the eye can see the Park.

Meals and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Day16: Serengeti National Park – Ngoro Ngoro Crater.

You will have an Incredible morning game drive in Serengeti, breakfast then departs after lunch. Time for Ngorongoro Crater via Olduvai Gorge for a brief visit of the museum.

Overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge/ Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. Approx. transit time: 3hrs.

Day 17: Ngoro Ngoro Crater.

There`s no way you will visit Serengeti and not do Ngoro Ngoro crater. After breakfast, descend into the Crater floor with picnic lunch boxes for a comprehensive incredible game drive. Return to Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Uganda.

This Land Locked Country is well known for Gorilla Trekking. It will be the third Country in this East Africa Safari Itinerary. I consider it a privilege to go Gorilla Trekking. It Is kind of a Big Deal. The following Destinations in Uganda will be visited.

  • Kampala City.
  • Bwindi Impenetrable.

Day 18: Ngoro Ngoro – Arusha – Nairobi Kampala.

This is a marathon Day. You will depart after breakfast and drive to Arusha for an early lunch at Impala Hotel, then board an afternoon Air Kenya flight back to Nairobi (1400hrs – 1445hrs).

Connect with a Kenya Airways flight to Entebbe where you will be met and assisted. Transfer to Africana Hotel for dinner and overnight on half board.

Day 19: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable.

An early morning start from Kampala takes you southwest and across the Equator. You drive through Savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns.

You then ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa”, with terraced farming and mountain scenery.

Drive through to the gorilla sanctuary. Overnight at the Camp/Lodge.

Day 20: Bwindi Impenetrable.

An early rise being the best time to enjoy the beauty and freshness of the forest, home of the mountain gorillas.

After a short briefing by the guides, proceed through dense bush to trek for these endangered animals. Other primates living in the forest include the black-and-white Columbus monkey, red tail monkey and chimpanzee.

Return to your Lodge/Camp, dinner and overnight.

Day 21: Bwindi Impenetrable – Nairobi, Kenya.

After breakfast, drive back to Kampala with en-route lunch at Lake View Hotel in Mbarara. Transfer to Entebbe Airport for your Kenya Airways flight back to Nairobi. Connect with departure flight back home at night.
